I have has some issues with swelling and high blood pressure lately so unfortunately for me I am now on bed rest. I am not confined to the bed but I cant do any walking, chores, or have any stress. I am able to work from home part time which really bothers me because I am eating into my maternity leave and there is no baby. I really wish this little one would hurry up so I can start being a mom. Being at home is really boring and one can only watch so much TV. I would love to be able to go for a nice walk but I cant do that either. So now I sit and wait. I am not even allowed to swim which stinks because Jason and I are going on our baby moon this weekend to a nice hotel with a really nice pool and I cant use it. I am looking forward to relaxing in a great room though.

Week 34

The past few weeks have been pretty hard. I am extremely tired and very emotional. I feel like crying everyday for no reason. My fingers and toes seem to be swelling so now I am just wearing flip flops. I have gained so much weight and I feel so unattractive. I am really ready to have this baby. I am tired of being pregnant. I have been having cramps for a few days so the doctor had me come in and do a Fetal NonStress Test. It showed some irritation on my uterus but they were not contractions. They did a test that showed I am not in danger of going into labor in the next 14 days. The doctor did an exam and she said the baby's head has come down. So I don't know if that means my body is getting ready for labor or not but I guess I will need to ask her during my next appointment.

Week 30

So this is week 30. Only 10 more to go and I must admit I am really ready. I have been experiencing sciatica for over a week and I can barely walk. The doctor referred me to get physical therapy and I hope it works because I cannot take this pain for 2 more months. I am now going to the doctor every 2 weeks. At my appointment on Monday my blood pressure was a little high for the first time. I am not really swelling so the doctor is not concerned. She also said I have calcium in my urine which can mean kidney stones so I am taking an over the counter supplement and hopefully that will do the trick. These past few weeks have been very difficult and uncomfortable. I hope I can manage but I am really miserable. One cool thing is that we are definitely seeing the baby move around. I can see a big round ball moving around in my skin. Its so cool to see.

Baby Shower

We had our baby shower last week and it was a great party. It wasnt the typical female only shower. We had all of our co-ed friends, music, crawfish boil, ect. It was great to see all my friends new and old. My sister and my mom really did a great job. The party lasted for several hours and I was beat by the end. We got so much stuff. We are so lucky to have great people in our lives. Now our task is to put everything in its place. I am so happy. I already had my mind set on a girl but now I know for sure and I don't have to wonder. I am glad we decorated in a gender neutral theme of Winnie the Pooh. I can start buying cute little panties with ruffles. The baby is 2 1/2 pounds and everything is measuring right on target. I am starting to get really big and I am getting tired easily. I have gained way too much weight which really bothers me but Jason said this is the only time I have an excuse to be big so I should not beat up on myself. I am not going to use this as an excuse to eat whatever but I am glad I have such a great guy to stand by me and who loves me and appreciates what my body is going through. I just cant wait to start running again! Sometimes we play argue over who gave who this baby. Did he give it to me or did I give it to him? Now that we are 28 weeks I have to start doing kick counts. It is kind of a pain but it is a way to track the babys movement. The one thing I notice is my focus and motivation is lacking. I am trying to finish this one class and I can barely get myself off the couch to read the material. I have a test in 3 weeks and a book report due and I havent started either. Sometimes I just want to quit but I keep telling myself I have 7 weeks left. I just need to tough it out!

Week 27-Some pretty cool things going on inside this week!

This week, your baby weighs almost 2 pounds (like a head of cauliflower) and is about 14 1/2 inches long with her legs extended. She's sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing her eyes, and perhaps even sucking her fingers. With more brain tissue developing, your baby's brain is very active now. While her lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning — with a lot of medical help — if she were to be born now. Chalk up any tiny rhythmic movements you may be feeling to a case of baby hiccups, which may be common from now on. Each episode usually lasts only a few moments, and they don't bother her, so just relax and enjoy the tickle.. I can't tell the difference between kicks and hiccups but I am feeling alot of movement, usually at night. Alot of times I wake up in the middle of the night for one of my many trips to the bathroom and when I lay back down I can feel her fluttering all around. I hope she dosent decided to stay up all night when she is here. I can't believe how big this baby is already. Only about 3 months to go. I am so excited!

BABY SHOWER INVITE!

Here is a copy of the invites my sister made. Some say time flys by but really this has been a slow process. I had a check up today and all is well so far. I get to have another ultrasound in 4 weeks so hopefully we can make sure it's a girl. Jason hung up all the pictures in the baby's room so now all we have to do is add some books and little animals and hopefully a rocking chair and it will be done. I am having my baby shower in April and I am so excited. Jason has been talking to my stomach which I think is so cute. I know everyone has been dying to see pictures so I will finally include some. I haven't really gotten used to my pregnant body. For some reason I cant tell that I am pregnant. I can only see that I am fat so I have been really hesitant to take pictures, but I don't want to look back and regret not having any photos of the event. I think my eyes are playing tricks on me because people I don't even know comment on the baby so maybe to them I do look pregnant. I guess you all can be the judges. I registered at the hospital today so I guess officially on paper we are signed up to have a baby!

Baby Kicking

Yesterday was so exciting. It feels like the time has gone by so slowly but when I look back I can't believe it has been almost 6 months. I am feeling the baby move everyday. Some days I feel it more than others. Of course I get very nervous on the days I dont feel too much. I ordered a fetal doppler so I can hear the baby's heartbeat at home. I think this will help me relax just knowing the baby is still in there going strong. We are getting ready to plan the baby shower. I am not really supposed to be involved but I have nothing better to do. I have been so tired this whole pregnancy. I have never felt that burst of energy you are supposed to get around month 4. I am still waiting. I am just going to take it as a signal that my body needs to rest.
The interesting things going on inside this week are :
How your baby's growing:Turn on the radio and sway to the music. With her sense of movement well developed by now, your baby can feel you dance. And now that she's more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound (about as much as a large mango), you may be able to see her squirm underneath your clothes. Blood vessels in her lungs are developing to prepare for breathing, and the sounds that your baby's increasingly keen ears pick up are preparing her for entry into the outside world. Loud noises that become familiar now — such as your dog barking or the roar of the vacuum cleaner — probably won't faze her when she hears them outside the womb.

I got a gift for christmas that lets me play music and talk to the baby. It has a belt and you stick the little speakers inside. I have been playing baby mozart and Iron & Wine.

Valentine

Last week Jason spent the whole day putting the baby furniture together. Only the child of Jason would do this!

Quickening

I am now 20 weeks and I am able to feel a little flutter in my stomach. I have had gas, diarrhea, dry bloody nose, oily skin, breakouts, and of course now I pee every 30 minutes. I can't sleep on my back or my stomach so my neck is in weird position and my hips hurt so I have to turn over every few hours. Sometimes I just sit up with pillows behind my back for comfort. I end up waking up with neck and shoulder pain. I also get up to pee about 6 times a night so I haven't had a good nights sleep in several weeks. I was aware my hormones would be in high drive but I am a basket case. I cant even watch a commercial without crying. Poor Jason. I have accused him of everything to thinking I am fat to cheating on me. I have had crazy dreams that I forget I am pregnant and I start chugging beers or taking some pills and then I remember "Oh CRAP, I'm pregnant. I cant drink!". And I have been watching discovery channel birth day, bringing baby home, and baby story and now I am freaked. I have decided an epidural is the way to go. The women who do it natural look like they are in agony! This is really like a roller coaster. To top it off my doctor told me I gained another 10 pounds. I really thought I was doing better. Every time I leave her office I feel like a bad fat girl. Then a few days later I went to my nutritionists office and she said I only gained 4 pounds. She has her scale calibrated every week and she said my doctors scale is not correct and not too worry. Whew!

On a positive note, I have an appointment on February 2ND and we will be able to find the sex of our baby. I think its a boy. Wagers anyone?

Waiting

I have been telling people this is the most boring part of the pregnancy. I am 14 weeks and I dont know the sex of the baby so I cant plan the nursery, buy clothes, or think of names. I dont feel anything moving and I am not sick anymore. So basically I am just waiting. In the beginning it was new and I was sick all the time so I was totally aware of this new life but now its just like watching water boil. The good thing is that I have some energy back so I have been getting back in the gym. I have been walking and running a little here and there. I feel better just doing it.

More Pictures

<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5278338582222988610" style="DISPLAY: block; This morning we heard our baby's heartbeat. It sounded like a choo choo train. Really fast. I had an ultrasound this morning and the baby is getting so big. It's developing normally. I saw the brain, spine, and little fingers. His skull looks like a little alien. He was holding his little hands up and it looked like it was sucking its thumb. I refer to the baby as he because it is easier but in about 6 weeks I might have an definite answer. My doctor said I need to watch what I eat because I gained 10 pounds in 5 weeks. Hopefully I can fix that now that my stomach is working itself out. Junk food just seems to go down easier. How can you get sick on chips. I still cant believe this is happening. For years I didnt think I was even able to conceive because of the PCOS but only 1 month off the pill and surprise! Jason and I are moved into the house so now we have 2 empty rooms. The baby's room will be right next to ours. I am not scared or worried. I think we will make great parents. I am scared about having to go back to work after my materninty leave. How can I leave my baby all day? I guess I can deal with that later. For now see all the new pictures.

NT test

Tomorrow I have an NT test. It measures the amout of fluid in the babies neck. I went in to have it last week and the baby wasnt big enough. It basically tells you the risk factor for having certain diseases. Jason will be there and I hope the baby is jumping around like he was last week so Jason can see it too.

Boppy

I came home from the other day and Jason had a present for me. The baby was kicking its legs and it looked like a jumping bean. It was bouncing all over the place. Coolest thing ever! I think I am starting to show. I cant tell if its really happening or in my head. I bought some maternity clothes. I think its too early but my pants wont button. Everything sounds disgusting except pizza, candy, chips. The coolest thing was seeing that little heartbeat. It looked like a little light flashing on and off. The second ultrasound looked like a little seamonkey. I had some blood tests. I think I need to get used to being picked and poked for a while. My morning sickness is pretty much gone. I am too big to button my pants now. For some reason the part of my brain that knows how to eat healthy has been blocked and I just go for the junk. I hope this settles down soon. I thought this might be a cool way to track my pregnancy and everything that goes along with it.It hasn't even been a week since I found out I was pregnant. I don't even know how far along I am. I will find out on Tuesday when I get my first ultrasound.

It still doesn't feel real. Am I supposed to suddenly be aware that I have a living being inside me? Besides the nasuea that has been a daily reminder for the past 3 weeks, I wouldn't have guessed I was pregnant at all. Now the thought of eggs or chicken makes me want to head for the bathroom. I have been extremely tired as well. I have never been this tired in my life. I better get used to it because the next 20 years will be very tiring. So Jason and I are very excited. He has been so great. He stays at my apartment almost everynight.

Meet the Parents

This is us.
